What I Stand For

A Court Built on Fairness

As Town Justice, I'll bring nearly two decades of courtroom experience to a court where every person is treated with dignity, impartiality, and equal access to justice.

Equal Access to Justice

Every litigant deserves to understand their rights and the legal process. Quality legal counsel and meaningful access to it are non-negotiable, regardless of someone's ability to pay.

Integrity of the Legal System

Faithfully apply the laws enacted by the legislature and the constitutional principles underlying them. Bail should secure court appearances — not serve as pre-conviction punishment.

Impartiality and Fairness

Evaluate evidence and witness credibility fairly. Conduct proceedings transparently and without bias. Twenty years of courtroom experience inform careful, even-handed judgment.
Meet Kenyon

Two Decades of Hudson Valley Justice

I've practiced law in the Hudson Valley since 2007, handling thousands of criminal and civil cases at the trial and appellate levels. As principal attorney of Trachte Law Office PC, an Orange County 18-B panel attorney, and an Assistant Public Defender in Ulster County, I've represented clients of every background.

From 2013 to 2017, I served on Ulster County's Conflict Special Prosecutor Panel. That perspective — having stood on both sides of the courtroom — is what I'll bring to the bench: a balanced understanding of the justice system, grounded in fairness, careful judgment, and respect for the rule of law.

How I'll Judge

Sound Judgment, Carefully Applied

Judicial discretion is one of the most important tools a judge possesses. Here's how I'll use it.

01

Address Root Causes

Many people enter the court system because of underlying challenges — trauma, substance abuse. Where appropriate, I'll support a treatment-focused approach that addresses root causes while still maintaining accountability and protecting the community.
02

Bail Reform with Public Safety

Bail should secure court appearances — not punish people who haven't been convicted. I'll ensure both sides comply with discovery obligations so cases are decided fairly and efficiently.
03

Treat Young People as Capable of Change

Younger defendants are still developing cognitively. They deserve the chance to demonstrate they can learn from mistakes and move forward as productive members of the community.
